Considering how the first time Faust heard about Stein was when his student's were handling out rape whistles, one can say they got off on the wrong foot. From what little Faust has seen and heard about Stein, he is a reckless, mellow on the outside storming on the inside, irresponsible hothead who's greatest skill lie in a technical field. Basically, that's longwordese for the fact he thinks you're a doctor solely because of your brain and in no way due to your heart. You have the smarts and no sense of ethics to back them up with, and Faust does. Not. Like that kind of thing.

But he went ahead and rescued him anyway, because doctor's are supposed to save lives and that's how it is. Stein rubs Faust the wrong way in a lot of ways, so he can rest assured that Faust will not go out of his way to go 'I told you so' unless Stein instigates. Because really: he has better things to do with his time. Like helping people. AND BEING SENSIBLE AND NOT CRAZY AT ALL AND DOING GOOD DOCTOR WORK MMM CAN YOU SMELL THAT IT'S RESPONSIBILITY STEIN YEAH SMELLS GOOD DON'T IT?
