Age: 30-ish. ... I think. Rough estimate since we're basing this off of Spirit's age and Stein is actually his JUNIOR. So.
Medical Info: . . . lol. Physically healthy, mentally insane. But not out-of-control-y kind of insane. That's for when he really cuts loose.
Appearance: Comme ça. Though shirts may vary. Giant screw in his head, stitches all over his body, white lab coat riddled with stitches, glasses, and oftentimes smoking. Tall.

What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her: Pretty much anything. He's heard crazier.

Abilities: ... so many to list. I'll break it down.
Hand-to-hand: a very capable fighter when it comes to just pure blows. He is well-trained in martial arts and other fighting styles. He can also play dirty and use his soul-wavelength-malleability against people.
I Can See You~: just about as creepy as it sounds. He can totally see your soul, dude, and it tells him some things. Not a lot of things, just blatant personality types and things like whether or not a person is uncomfortable (because that's really the most important thing, you know). What he infers from this varies depending on the person and conversations he may have with them while studying them. And believe me, he is always studying.
Soul Wavelength: one of the most talented things about him is that he can literally adapt his soul's energy (re: wavelength) to match another person's. This enables him not only to be capable of utilizing any weapon that is willing to work with him (or even maybe unwilling since Spirit... but then again... masochism...), but able to completely cancel out another person's attack (hi there, Black*Star).
SCIENCE: he is well-versed in it and is very intelligent! We're talking genius-level. However, his expertise lies in taking things apart primarily. Not putting them back together. ... unless it's in an interesting way worth studying. And sometimes when a person really needs a hand (lolol).
CRAAAAAZY: This is totally an ability. Stein is insane. Literally. He is steadily slipping further and further down that slippery slope but gosh darn it, he is resisting! Because Shinigami needs him to be sane. His students need him to be sane. And yet he is totally wanting but not wanting but SO wanting to go nuts. It's kind of a thing. Ask him about crazy things, he is well-versed in this as well.
Notes for the Psychics/Magically or Spiritually sensitive: Aaaall of the above and then some. He is not a psychic himself but he is able to sense other people's souls' energies. So take that as you will. One thing for sure: You can sense that he is a VERY POWERFUL person. And capable of a lot more than he seems. Ping me if you ever want specifics (such as before Stein left Camp the first time, he totally got his soul ripped in half and pasted back on yey. sooo...)
Minor in-thread violence/etc: I do not mind at all! Just a quick head's up will wooork~
Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact: . . . go for it. Little kids will get off easier, for some reason. Maybe.
Maim/Murder/Death: Piiiing me and let's talk it out~ I've played things like this out with Stein before and I don't mind as long as I know what's what.
Cooking: ... he makes things in beakers and test tubes, probably. Is that safe? You can always be the taste-tester...

And if anyone's interested in some of the things I've essayed (including particular relationships he found most interesting/important) on before when I last played Stein...

(Note: I used "technician/meister" or just "technician" a lot because it was still early enough that translators were very hurpderp about what they should call weapon-users. "Meister" is the generally accepted term now.)

(Note the 2nd: The Jack involved with Stein in the past was not the same as the current Jack. Just for the record.)

Writing this all out for my own peace of mind than anything else, so feel free to ignore if you want. Don't think of this as me arguing with possible concrit but more like stating my POV if the issues should ever arise.

Getting away with murder... )

And I'm running out of issues I'm paranoid about. ANYWAY. I just want to let everyone know that I know Stein's badass and that he's a kickass fighter person when he wants to be and I haven't really gotten around to showing that very well, but I assure you, he'll have his moments. Just... need to find the right moments that doesn't work against my schedule or his very nature. Orz.

... and this was a waste of an essay thing but it made me feel better. >:
iscrewtothink: (zz obviously it's dissection)
Welcome one and all to another installment of Getting To Know Your Mad Scientist! In this edition, we will be discussing the topic of What On Earth Were You Thinking? in regards to the most recent plot between Stein and Ayanami and any other person who may or may not be effected by this sort of thing. (It's mostly here to help me keep track of wtf Stein was thinking where and stuff.)

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR 07-GHOST.

To start off with, we can get a quick overview of interactions between the two main characters of this drama have had in Camp!

Can I help you? )

And now we've arrived at the point in time where the real action happens!

Nothing's permanent here... )

And thus, the time of healing starts. Except it's a lot more difficult with injuries most people can't see.

I appreciate the offer, but you'll understand that I'll turn it down in favor of nursing the wound myself. )

Of course during all of this, Stein has several encounters that makes people ask him what happened, who dun it, and all the other fun things that he just doesn't want to talk about.

As for who attacked me... another person with the ability to view and manipulate souls. )

As you can tell, it got pretty complicated pretty fast! But there is one good side to it that could also be a bad side to it, I guess.

...You haven't told me what choice you've made. )

Aaaaand, I think I explained everything necessary. That's where we're at right now, and things are getting interesting and fun! Stein's being his stubborn self and pretending all is well to anyone and everyone who wants to believe it when he's really unraveling at the seams and doesn't really know how to make things stop snowballing. Especially in regards to his own sanity. The other things... with someone like Jack in the know, it means there's someone capable of thinking coherently to help out with planning what to do in regards to Ayanami.

But of course, there's always the temptation Stein has to just let himself collapse completely and let Ayanami win. But just like when he fought against Insanity because he believed Medusa would win if he didn't, he'll fight back against the damage done to him and the insanity that got a boost up because of it.

Amd this has been another addition of What On Earth Were You Thinking? I can't say that I was very coherent about anything I mentioned here, but if you have any questions or comments, feel free to make them I'll try my best to be more coherent! (It's hard to be coherent about explaining a mad scientist's thoughts when he's really in a not happy place mentally durdurdur.)
iscrewtothink: (something I'm not quite getting)
Welcome once again to yet another essay babble spiel thing in which I try to make head canon and information from canon work for me to better play my wonderful mad scientist. In this edition, we shall be addressing the issue of Relating to Others: Or Lacking the Essential Components For It.

All right. So to kick things off, let us categorize what roles Stein has in canon and how they effect his relationships in canon and in Camp.

Long-winded, much? )

... and because this is long enough, I will be adding short little blurbs on important (i.e. talks with very often almost every chance he gets) relationships Stein has in Camp.

You really make me want to dissect you... )

Aaaaand, I'm not sure if I achieved what I set out to do for this essay and it's also way early in the morning and I totally can't think of what to say beyond the 5 people listed under the second cut. OH WELL.

If you have any sort of questions or comments or... something, feel free to comment!
iscrewtothink: (we're all mad here)
Okay, so basically this needs to be done because lolz! Crazy man running around camp hunting moogles and peeking into people's souls and thus finding out that he REALLY KIND OF WANTS TO CUT THEM OPEN AND STUDY THEM and stuff. So I guess we'll do it in a question-answer style of an essay.

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS

It's a given that the Insanity is contagious... )

Aaaaand, I think that's all for now. If you have more questions, feel free to ask them! I'll definitely be willing to answer! ♥
iscrewtothink: (row row fight da powa!)
When I get bored, I get bored but jeez how bored am I~

ANYWAY. I figured I should write a quick explanation about somethings about Stein and other Soul Eater characters' abilities!

A healthy soul requires a healthy spirit and healthy body. )

Stay tuned for another post some day soon about Stein and his flimsy sanity!
